mischevious, chomp
Woo-hoo! I'm making plans to see Serenity with two of my best friends. I received my Go Sailor cd in the mail today. I've got some giant orange cones in the trunk of my car to practice manueverability. I am set to take life by the horns!

Er, okay, maybe not. But I'm feeling pretty damn good. ^__^

I listened to the first two discs of Neil Gaiman's American Gods on cd at work today. Maybe I'm just not cut out for Gaiman... I've never really been able to concentrate while reading (or apparently listening to) his stuff. Perhaps I should just try the Sandman series instead. Graphic novels might be better for me.

Yay! I love hearing Serenity plans!

I really like the Sandman sereie, although I've only read the first two books. Coraline is a really great book too, in my opinion. Plus it's short.

"sereie"?

Not sure what happened there...

It's all about Neverwhere. It's my favourite, by far.

I really liked Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet's "Good Omens".

Not sure If I've read anything else by him.

You know, I've started Good Omens multiple times, but I can't seem to get into it. Then again, I always find Pratchett a little difficult to get into.... I always love what I read, though. :) (thank you, oh great one, for turning me on to the Wonder Who Is Sam Vimes!

Good Omens owns all so far. Sandman seems good enough, I've only read the first book and I'm not at all a fan of the art. It's good, but it isn't the least bit appealing to me. The story itself is on crack.

Neverwhere was good, but I read that it was a BBC TV show and it definately has that TV show/Graphic novel feel to it. Or at least I thought so.

Obviously I'm on a Gaiman kick and I'm reading American Gods right now. It's good, but I'm finding it rather slow.

So um, I recommend Good Omens the most. I think that was what I was trying to say. . .

Yes, Neverwhere was originally a BBC tv mini series. Let's just say that the book is much, much better.

See, so many people I know and respect really love Gaiman that I feel like I'm missing the point or something. I need to just stick through with it and continue.

Have you read any of the Death miniseries? Those are really good too.

I loved American Gods, although it does move a little slow. I think part of my love for that book is because a chunk of it takes place practically in my backyard. Yay, northern Wisconsin! ^^

But you like Terry Pratchett, right? Try Good Omens--it's just hilarious, and generally a really engaging book.

I definitely like Terry Pratchett, but I've had problems getting into Good Omens as well. Maybe my timing's off, and I'm attempting it when I'm in the wrong mood. ^_^;;

I have every last crumb of Sandman (was sort of obsessive about collecting it, back in the day), if you ever want to borrow bits and pieces; I only have the first few storylines as trade paperbacks, though, so the rest would be a sliding pile of comic books. Well worth the borrow, though! I liked the whole run very much, at least as far as the stories went--was less enthused about some of the artists who came and went.

I also love one of Gaiman's other comic projects, Books of Magic (starts as a 4-part miniseries, continues as a longer comic)--it's the story of British, bespectacled, messy-haired Tim Hunter, who finds out one day that he's not the normal suburban kid he'd thought, but the heir to a legacy of magic....

No, really. Not HP in the least (and it predates Rowling, anyway)--and worth the read as well! ^_^

(Also: glad to see you're feeling happier, dearling. Love you, love you.)

Ah, yes - I've heard about his pre-Potter tale. :) I might have to look into it, actually. And I think I might be able to get my hands on copies of Sandman - the library has them. It's just figuring out the order that will be difficult.

(I love you, too, jiejie. Just make sure I stay positive, and all will be fine!)

Glad you sound happy! Plan to see Serenity this weekend too. Then we can talk about it when we all get back together for game. I can't wait!

Definitely!!!!

Say, when do you start working in Hell? And what will your schedule be like? I'm thinking I'm going to have to start spending more time with you and the wee little one. :) How will he ever learn to love his Aunt Lisa if he sees me only once a week?

I start next week. For my two weeks of training I work 8-4. Then I will probably have 9-5 like Becki (same place even). I'd be more than happy for you to visit. Chris will be here till I get home of course and you could always come before then if you aren't working. And of course he's gotta learn to love Aunt Lisa! What is there not to love? :)

I just finished Firefly today. *grin* It was excellent. More than half of my dorm hall is going to see Serenity on Friday.

Aw, I miss those half-the-dorm-piles-into-three-cars-to-see-a-movie moment. This is going to totally make me sound ancient, but most of my dorm, freshman year, were students in the conservatory of music. So when Evita came out we had one of those outings. It was so awesome, since it was the first major musical movie in YEARS.

I hope you have twice the fun I had that night!! ^__^

I saw Evita with my step mom. :S I think I was a seventh grader...

well, there goes my plan to ask if you wanted to see Serenity in Columbus on Saturday!

*hugs* to you -- i have been horrible about writing lately, but I've been thinking happy thoughts in your direction.

*and more hugs*

Hey, there's never any need to apologize! ^__^ I've been wondering why random happy thoughts have been assaulting me, though. Good to have that mystery solved. :D
